About Walter

My artwork consists mainly abstract and nonrepresentational painting. I work mostly in acrylic paints and mediums. This enables me to do alot of layering and glazing on the canvas. My images usually start with a basic idea using lines and forms and building up the image from there. I really never know what the work is going to finally look like in the end . It seems like I am solving the work as it goes on. I tend to work more with organic shapes in my pieces as opposed to more geometric forms. I'm not sure why. I suppose it's a sort of freedom of movement that I like.
My training, besides numerous high school classes, has been through some community college courses of basic drawing, painting and design. Most of my practical learning is through the Art Students League of Denver. This is where I came to work more as an abstract artist. I continue to further my studies there fairly regularly by trying new perspectives with different instructors.
